Team Athletes are required to:

Purchase a team jersey and are highly encouraged to get a full kit.

Wear the team kit at all races and team riding events.

Purchase an annual USA Cycling License and select Great Lakes Cycling as their club and request to be on the Molly Maid-Byron Health and Healing team.

Any athlete on the podium must have a team identifying jersey/spirit wear item on.

Complete team specific community service throughout the year.​

WHO?Open to youth that can ride a geared road, mountain bike, gravel, and cyclocross (typically 6/7 yrs and older) No Experience Necessary Boys and Girls Traditional School, Private School, Virtual School or Home School

WHAT?Road cycling, Gravel cycling, Cross country mountain biking , and Cyclocross On and Off road skills Learn proper skills and riding techniques Practice & races governed by USACycling For athletes in 6-12th grade, additional racing governed by NICA Licensed coaches Helmet required at all times Must have a safe, functioning mountain bike with 26-29" wheels Racing is optional Have FUN & make new friends Foster a responsible attitude toward the use of trails and wilderness No prior skills necessary

WHERE?Weekday Practice is generally held at Silver Lake Park in Kenosha Saturday rides planned within 2 hours of Kenosha for new trail experiences Races/Events held throughout the state of Wisconsin

HOW?STEP 1 - SELECT PROGRAM: GREAT LAKES RIDE CLUB PROGRAM - Your athletes loves to ride, but not so interested in racing.... Cost - Club dues of $150.00 INCLUDES: Moisture wick T-shirt, Water bottle, Socks GREAT LAKES RACE TEAM PROGRAM - This program is for those athletes who want to race. Athletes don’t need to be the best or fastest to be in the competition program, just need the desire to compete and to push themselves and find your limits. Athletes in this program must wear a Great Lakes team kit at the events on the team calendar they choose to attend. Cost - $150, NICA Registration of $88 plus race fee's (6th-12th grade only) STEP 2 - REGISTER WITH GREAT LAKES CYCLING Pay in person at registration or pay online via our team store at cheddar CLUB https://club.spond.com/landing/signup/slscholastic/form/3F9FB8A416FB41F1B83C84993DB5CF09 TEAM https://club.spond.com/landing/signup/slscholastic/form/4E032AC5B6EC43F59B0FD2321756D6C1 Both athlete and parent/guardian read and sign our Great Lakes Cycling Code of Conduct Policy Both athlete and parent/guardian Read and sign the Waiver of Release and Liability STEP 3-RACE & NICA ATHLETES ONLY–ALL AGES-USA CYCLING REGISTRATION & FEES Junior athletes have the option to purchase a USACycling Annual Race license for $40, or pay a $10 day of race license per event. For NICA athletes, new for 2023, you need to request a discount code that will then be used when you register with USA Cycling. The code can be request by going to: USA Cycling code request You will need to request this and complete the USA Cycling registration prior to registering for a USA Cycling race such as the WORS events. Adult membership not required for purchase... Each race venue will charge a separate race registration and fee, this is for the USACycling race license only. STEP 4 - NICA ATHLETES - 6th - 12th graders Register in Pitzone for the Wisconsin League & NICA - $88.00 o If your athlete is new, we will send an invite to the parent’s email address used during the team registration process, so that you can create an account in NICA Pit Zone. This is where you will complete registration, waivers, and participation agreements. Once a athletes account has been created (or activated if a returning athlete), the athlete will need to go through the NICA registration system. STEP 5 - NICA ATHLETES - 6th - 12th graders - NICA RACE REGISTRATION & FEES An announcement has not been made in regards to the 2025 race season, however, in previous years, the Wisconsin Interscholastic Cycling League has offered a season race pass. This Season Race Pass is generally only offered early, and ends August 1st, and has saved money if purchasing all races at once. We will keep you posted as soon as information is available for the 2025 race costs.
